[Amc-wm-cyclists] Winter Updates

[AMC Bicycling]

Dear Riders:

I hope this finds you well and you are enjoying some fun winter activities outdoors. As some of you know, Janine has “retired” from her position as the chair of the committee, effective November 15th, and I am taking over as chair. Over the next few months, we will be planning for our 2026 season, training new leaders, and looking for your input on how to grow our program. There are also a couple of events coming up earlier in the season that you should know about, which are posted below.

The Bicycling Committee is always interested in hearing from our members about different kinds of rides we might add to our program. For example, we had a successful weekday ride last summer, and if there is more interest, we would like to schedule more of these shorter rides during the week, both in the morning, or after work, from 5:30 or 6 to 7 PM. We also know that some riders would prefer rides at a different pace, averaging 10-12 mph. If this interests you, or other riders you know, please let us know. 2026 is AMC’s 150th anniversary. Each chapter has planned several events to take place on May 23d. Our Bicycling Committee is leading a ride that many of you might enjoy. AMC 150th Anniversary Challenge

Are you up for a challenge? The Western Massachusetts Chapter wants YOU! To help celebrate AMC’s 150th anniversary in 2026, we challenge you to participate in 150 miles “worth” of activities between January 1 and October 31, 2026. Those who meet the challenge will receive a special commemorative patch and a shout-out at our Fall Social and Annual Meeting.
